In Part 4 of the Sixth Seal we are going to take a look at: The Everlasting Gospel, The Mark of the Beast and The Fall of Babylon. Contrary to most traditional teachings there is much more to these things than most have given credit for. The Everlasting Gospel is the final outpouring of the Glory of God, the Mark of the Beast is a lot more than some mark on one’s hand or head in order to buy food, and the Fall of Babylon is the fall of this worlds belief system and only begins falling here, it actually lasts through the entire Tribulation and is the Tribulation. Take some time to read below a couple of times. Then get the book and start reading it, because the book goes into a lot more detail and what is taught in the book builds upon previous revelation and prepares you for the revelations that are coming in later chapters. Additionally the book is only the beginning of the discovery. There are new insights still hidden that the Lord is eager to reveal, but we need to get the basics down first.
Event Sequence # 13-21
Revelation 6:12-7:17 Story 2
Revelation 13:1-18 Story 3
Revelation 14:1-16 Story 4
Revelation 18:1-19:10 Story 5
The process linking the stories together is done using the first verse of the first story to mention the event that has a related event in another story. You can read how this is done by clicking on the book tab above, under “Reference Material,” click on the link “Revelation Cross Reference Chart” and read the second page “How to read the chart.” When reading verses related to a link always combine those into one event.
The Everlasting Gospel
This is the first of three angels (14:6-7) seen in the heavens proclaiming the Gospel to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people. This represents the Christian church reaching out, possibly through satellites that are even now proclaiming the gospel around the world. The work of the last days is finally paying off and the church is fulfilling the Great Commission. At the same time, an angel comes from heaven with great light and power. This is angel is not bringing himself, but is a representation of the outpouring of the glory of God on man one last time. It is going to bring illumination and enlightenment for all who are willing to look upon this revelation and outpouring on the earth. This outpouring is going to bring not only the glory of God but also enlightenment of understanding, accompanied with great power, which will be shown forth through all those who receive this enlightenment and glory from God.
The Fall of Babylon
The second angel (14:8) brings the fall of Babylon. This fall is the collapse every aspect of the civilization we know today, the religious and economic systems that have ruled over the earth since the fall of man. This is only the beginning of the fall of Babylon, as the judgments against Babylon are the Tribulation. Each of the seven judgments of the Tribulation will be the fall of one of the foundations upon which this civilization relies upon. It will be replaced by the kingdom of heaven at the return of Christ when the Seventh Trumpet is sounded. The entire three and a half years are part of this judgment and we will study this in detail in the chapter “The Mystery Babylon.”
Image & Mark of the Beast
The False Prophet will be a master of deception (13:14) and will even use wondrous signs in deceiving those Jews not sealed in the 144,000 and simple-minded Christians who do not know the word of God. The text gives clear indication that those who dwell on the earth do not have to be the entire earth but those under the influence of the beast. With his deceptions, he will convince them to create an image of the beast, which is the abomination of desolation in Daniel 11:31 & 12:11. Whether by technology or supernatural power this image has the ability to speak (13:15) and commands those who will not bow before the image to be killed. This imagery goes all the way back to Greek mythology where the images of the gods would speak. There is also a correlation with Daniel 3 with Nebuchadnezzar's gold image, for those do not worship the image are put to death.
We do not know what this image is, whether these events are staged, physical or spiritual is of no real consequence. What is important is the power the False Prophet exercises and the deception that he can perform. His actions will deceive many into believing that the Antichrist is the savior of the world.
Because their civilization is collapsing in the Fall of Babylon, the newly instituted regime will attempt to restore it with the Mark of the Beast (13:16). Technology has already introduced computer chips small enough to implant under the skin and be tracked. The sophistication of computers today could track thousands, even millions, of people at any given moment and keep a history of what they are doing, where they are going and to whom they are associating.
The Israelites were forbidden to make any cuttings in their flesh for the dead or print marks upon themselves in Lev 19:28. For the Jews to receive this mark would be a violation of their law and for the Christians to receive the mark would be a violation of the commands written in the book of Revelation.
The scope of this is mark is more than just to buy or sell (13:17). The Greek word here for “buy” means to be in the marketplace or to do business. The Greek word for “sell” means to barter or sell. Therefore, it includes all aspects of doing business.
Note carefully the wording of verse 13:17. It is not necessary to have the mark on one's head or hand to buy and sell. It is also possible to have the number or the name of the beast. There are actually three ways to buy and sell:
The mark of the beast
The requirement of the mark on the head or hand is not absolute requirement. So there is definite potential for buying and selling even without the mark actually on the individual, by using a number or some other form of identification. Therefore, it could be a credit or ID card and if a person had such a card they could still be able to buy or sell. There would probably be one of those computer chips embedded in the card and the personal information required to get the card would be same as if one had the mark embedded under their skin. There will be other ways to take advantage of the system without registering.
Here is wisdom (13:18); the number of the beast is 666. Both Hebrew and Greek languages have numerical equivalents to each letter. Given the name of this beast in either language should result in a total value of 666.
At the announcement of the mark of the beast the third angel (14:9) flying through the heavens gives warning not to participate in the beast’s new economic system. This is the final warning from the Christian community not to get involved with these things. There are three points to this warning:
Do not worship the beast.
If they do, they will experience the full wrath of God when it is poured out (14:10) and they will be sentenced to the second death, which is everlasting torment (14:11) in the Lake of Fire.
There is one more element to this mark that most people do not realize. That is in the use of the words “the number of his name,” and “taking the mark of the beast.” Most Westerners have a limited understanding of what this means and take it as literal application, but there is also a more expansive application that is not taken into consideration.
Before Jesus was born we are told in Matt 1:23 “…they shall call his name Emmanuel,” which is interpreted “God with us.” But when he was born, he was given the name Jesus, not Emmanuel. So what happened here and what does that have to do with the mark of the beast? Very much indeed, because the name “Emmanuel” is not his name, it is the creed or title that his name was given. In the same way the mark of the beast is not the literal name of the person called the Antichrist, it is the credo or origin or titles his name was given, the statement of faith that his followers take for themselves.
Let us take a look at this from a Christian perspective. The name “Christ” is the Greek translation of the Hebrew word “Messiah,” which means “The Anointed One.” The name “Christian” is translated as being “Little Christ,” or someone who comes in the name of Christ. So when we say we are a Christian, we are literally saying that we come “In the name of Christ.” When we accept Jesus as our savior, we take the name of Jesus Christ as part of our lives and now live in his name.
Using that same approach to the mark of the beast, when someone takes the name or worships the mark of the beast they are proclaiming that they come “In the name of <The Antichrist>.” But they are not going to use the word “The Antichrist” they are going to use the name of their leader or god through which the Bible associates as the Antichrist. Therefore, those who follow the Antichrist will take to themselves by marking this creed on their heads or hands. If you have not noticed this yet, it is already being used in many parts of the world, especially the Middle East by terrorist and those who support them. They wrap a scarf on their heads or arm with a credo, which says: “In the name of Allah.” It is a form of worship of their god and the one to whom they have pledged allegiance to. This is more the mark of the beast than a chip put under someone skin used to buy food, as the focus of this final battle is more over who you are going to worship and follow not some economy.
